ADESS – Passion for Performance

During the weekend of the ELMS 4 Hours of Spa Francorchamaps the new generation of LMP3 cars
got introduced to the racing teams and fans. Ligier Automotive, Duqueine Automotive and Adess
presented their new cars in the fan zone. The new LMP3 generation will feature a new engine and
further developed aerodynamics. The engine for the third generation of LMP3 cars will be the Toyota
V35A, the 3.5L twin turbo V6 engine will be more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly while producing
15hp more than the currently used V8 engine. Fuelieheads had the chance to meet and chat to
Stéphane Chosse, the CEO of the Motorsport manufacturer ADESS AG, about their new LMP3 car, the Adess AD25 LMP3.

Due to the new engine, the rear part of all LMP3’s had to be redesigned and shaped to suite the
completely new engine philosophy. Towards the question what the biggest hurdle during
development was Stéphane Chosse pointed out that the implementing of a suitable cooling system
for the new twin turbo V6 was the hardest part. Chosse, though, was convinced that they used the
time during development efficiently and built together a well suitable cooling system. All
manufacturers got a bit more developing time for cooling reasons. Adess is very happy to be on
target with their testing schedule, as Chosse mentioned the cars testing program already began on
track in Portugal. He also elaborated on how they will specifically test certain parts like straight- line speed performance in the upcoming weeks on an Airfield in Portugal.

Always crucial for a manufacturer is the number of cars they can sell and get on the grid in the racing
season ahead. For Adess, the clear goal is to race in ELMS as well as in the Michelin Le Mans Cup.
Most important for Stéphane Chosse and Adess is that they want “the right teams” to race their cars
to show the full potential of the AD25 LMP3 rather than just sell cars. Right from the get go Adess
wants to show that the AD25 has what it takes to be a successful LMP3 car and provide the teams
with a reliable and fast racecar. With the success of the Ligier JS P320, the predecessor of the 2025
Ligier JS P325, Chosse expects that Ligier will have the biggest numbers on the grid next year. Adess is
confident that they built a fast and reliable car and that the AD25 is customer friendly and a good car
for the long run. A key point in the development was the visibility and the comfort for the drivers.
The A-Pillar is designed straight to have a better outward view and the cockpit has been spaced out.

Furthermore, the aerodynamic efficiency of the cars will continue to be a key criterion for customers,
as always. Compared to the other cars on display, the AD25 has a very sleek and low front bodywork
design, which is developed and tested at the Adess AG factory and already on track as well. On the
rear, Adess focused a lot on the proper cooling for the new engine and designed the engine cover
with a lod of louvers to let hot air out of the engine. Helping to cool the engine further, the sidepod
allows a lot of air into the engine and it shows on track that the concept works.

Stéphane Chosse explained that the coming month will be very intense and crucial for the final
development of the AD25. Besides the aero test, Adess plans to run on two trackdays and already
tested the completely new rear suspension provided by KW Automitive at their workshop. As to the reason behind the switch from Öhlins to KW, Chosse explained that the quality and support they received from KW was the decisive factor behind the change.

For many teams the on track, support will be a factor to consider when buying a new car. According
to Chosse, Adess’s plan is to get into contact with the teams and provide them with spare parts. If
Adess provides at least five cars for the 2025 season, the contract requires them to have a truck with a contingent of spare parts at the racetracks.

The Adess AD25 LMP3 is a project of about 15 people employed by Adess and developed fully in
house from the CFD to the actual build-up of the car. Except for the electronics, Adess developed the
whole car with dedicated employees for all the crucial parts of the new project in their own factory.
Looking on the testing program and the 2025 season ahead, Stéphane Chosse ended our little chat with a smile and a “Let’s Go!”

The new era for LMP3 will give every manufacturer a chance to show that they built a car to fight for
wins. It will be exciting to see who comes out on top when the first green flag drops in the spring of 2025. Until then, we enjoy the last races of the great sounding current generation cars and look ahead at what will await us coming 2025.
